This book is no exception, from the title onward. While we often think that health, especially poor health (and cancer, even more so), "happens" to us, his book makes a strong point that we can in fact exercise control over it. Dr. Whyte describes in plain language the practical steps we can take with diet, exercise, and even attitude to make a difference in our cancer risk. The steps are backed by science but are not radical and hard to put into practice--the diet and exercise plans do not require a lifestyle overhaul. The mind-bond element, which had long been overlooked in traditional medicine, gets its due here too, with practical small steps, like a gratitude journal, that can make a difference.
